Best Baits for Post Spawn Fish **UNDERWATER FOOTAGE**

Underwater Footage! Today we're headed back underwater to watch footage of bass in their natural environment. As we transition into the post-spawn and ultimately toward Summer we know that bass follow two behavioral patterns. The fish either head deep to the ledges and rock outcrops or they head shallow and burrow in to cover. Today we're going to focus on the behavior of the shallow bass.

As bass move into shallow cover they begin feeding heavily. Anglers can pursue them with a variety of methods but our favorites are topwater and heavy flipping. Today's video focuses heavily on topwater and gives us an incredibly unique underwater view of how bass line up and attack topwater baits from below.

There is an incredible amount of information to be learned by watching exactly how these bass feed. From how they stalk, to how far they're willing to move, to watch causes the "trigger" in their feeding response, you can become a much better angler just watching their reactions as baits pass overhead. We hope you enjoy the footage!

Below is a breakdown of the baits used in the video as well as a few extras that Tim really likes this time of year.

Top 5 Baits For Post Spawn Fishing During The Shad Spawn

Ready for some of the most fun you'll have on the water all year? As Spring comes to an end and Summer begins, the shad begin to spawn. They move into the shallows and the bass are ready! The whole process lasts a few short weeks but you can continue to carry the pattern for a month after the Shad spawn ends.

Targeting bass around shad takes a little practice but once you've got it, you'll look forward to the opportunity all year! We use a variety of baits to target bass around baitfish but it boils down to a simple pattern that anyone can replicate.

Below is a breakdown of our confidence baits and gear that we use for consistently catching fish during the shad spawn and following weeks when shad and other large baitfish can be found near shallow water.

Giant Texas Bass! Fishing Lake Alan Henry

Our first day in TEXAS and the GIANT Largemouth have already come out of the wood work! The day started like any other as we searched for fish on a brand new fishery. We knew we only had a few hours so we went from broke with swimbaits and topwater. After making some quick adaptions we found a point that was loaded with monster bass. Come along to see how it played out!

When we approach a new fishery the first step is to set goals. Are you looking to catch as many fish as possible? Do you want to catch a big fish? Are you looking for more than one species? Once you've set goals the day will define itself. In this case we only had a few hours so we knew we were looking for a big bite to kick off our Texas road trip. CC started with a glide bait hoping to call a big fish up out of deep water and Matt began probing the shallows with a topwater. When the bass proved to be small they started making quick moves to other parts of the lake but continued probing outside structures hoping the big, post spawn females would be stacking up, and that's exactly what they found.

The baits and tackle used in the video are broken down below.
