Micro Fishing In A Crystal Clear Stream

Micro Baits for TINY fish in some of the tiniest clear water streams you've ever seen! We hit the road last week in search of something a little different. We went back home to the streams and pools that we grew up on. Come along as we take you underwater to explore the world of Brook and Rainbow Trout while we catch these amazing little fish. 

"Micro Fishing or micro baiting" is a growing trend amongst new anglers. We've seen it develop and much you like you, we did it throughout our childhoods. We knew if we were going to film some micro fishing we needed to take it back to our roots so we headed back home, deep into the Sierra Nevada Mountains. 

Why go micro? Its all about the challenge. Catching tiny fish in places where everyone else overlooks. Whether you live in the South and micro fish for green sunfish or you live in the West pursuing native trout, the gear and the purpose behind it is all the same. 

We often spend our time driving fast boats loaded down with high-end equipment in pursuit of big bass but there is something special about breaking away, leaving that outboard motor at home and just doing a little fishing. Do yourself a favor and spool up that old trout rod from when you were a kid and hit the road. You won't regret it!

The Ultimate Pond Fishing Challenge

Matt challenged Tim to show up to a pond with nothing but his backpack and two rods. Inside the pack was a variety of baits that should work great on a small pond. The challenge? Catch a fish on every bait in the box in less than 2 hours... and be careful not to break off, there aren't many backup baits! 

Tim did a great job of working through the various baits to catch bass in the pond. He proved it could be done with different techniques and fishing styles from worm fishing to reaction fishing to getting topwater blow ups.

How to Catch Every Bass Under a Dock

In this video Tim explains what you need to do to catch as many fish as possible when fishing a dock. Instead of walking up and simply casting to the dock, take a tactical approach, work your angles and systematically catch all the fish.

Its amazing to us how many guys, especially from boats, will just make a random splash down cast into the middle of a dock then move on to the next one! Who came up with that idea?! Take 30 seconds out of your day, be systematic in your approach, and you will see immiediate results.

As the video begins Tim explains that the first step to dock fishing from shore is to approach the dock from the down shadow side. Meaning, don't let your shadow cross the dock, instead keep your shadow behind you. Next, start fishing the structure that is closest to shore and farthest from the center of the dock first.

Slowly cast to each piling of the dock, shadow corner, or other structure. As you fish each piece of cover slowly work out to deeper water. This way any fish you catch will be pulled up into the shallows without crossing over the other fish.

The last cast should be to the very center and darkest part of the shadow under the dock. By the time you've reached this cast you should have caught every other fish under the dock. 

If you use this method for all of your dock fishing you're absolutely going to catch more bass! Whether you're bank fishing or standing on a bass boat this information applies to your fishing. If you happen to be on a boat simply fish the dock in reverse order to achieve the same result.
