How To Find BIG Bass In A New Lake! ( Summer Edition )

We're exploring a new lake during the hottest part of the year, jump in the boat as we figure it out! Matt uses a combination of new fishing (Urchins and Minnows), traditional fishing (Jigs And Worms), and BFS Fishing (Karashi, and Micro Glide Baits) to dial in a new lake. Let's go fishing!

Going in to the day Matt's plan was to split his time between shallow and deep. As it turns out, that plan was spot on. He caught fish from the surface out to 40+ feet of water. While the largest bass of the day came from 25' of water on the edge of a grass line, the majority of his bites were in less than 10' of water around cover, including a bunch of topwater bites.

6 Baits For Summer Bass Fishing! ( Adapting To The Conditions )

Jump in the boat with Tim while he's out catching Summer bass! He's fishing challenging conditions today and pulls out all the stops to catch fish. The day started off dark and dreary, before turning windy, and ultimately post-frontal. Tim was faced with nearly every condition you could face in Summer, all in the same day! He finesse fished with the dropshot when he had to, but immediately turned to reaction baits when the wind kicked up. Where Do Bass Go When Its HOT?! ( And How To Catch Them )

Summer bass fishing can be amazing, but what about when it gets HOT?! As temperatures rise, bass actually become very predictable. They're driven by 3 main variables, and once you understand these simple concepts, you can always locate fish. Once you know where they are, catching them is easy if you understand which baits to use! Even when Summer temperatures are at their peak, you can catch a lot of fish.

Here's what you need to know; Since the spawn, the bass have separated into two distinct groups. The first group goes shallow into cover and the second heads out to main lake structures. The shallow fish are fun because you can target them with a variety of power fishing techniques. The fish on outside structures group up around current when available and hard bottom when the water is calm. These fish can be caught on a variety of lures and tend to feed in aggressive "bite windows".
