Matt Loses A 15 lb Bass At The Net! | Painful Fish Story

Matt had the 15 lber right up to the edge of the net! When she came off his swimbait flew by his head like a bullet! Worse yet, she didn't even know she was free and just kept thrashing! It was horrible!

Matt was throwing an 8" Huddleston Deluxe Swimbait in a large pond from an aluminum boat when the monster bass bit. He was using gear that wasn't strong enough and it was all he could do to battle the giant bass! Losing that fish has replayed in Matt's mind hundreds if not thousands of times and even now remains as a constant reminder to keep his gear dialed in and stay focused at all times.

Topwater Pond Fishing Fun

How many casts does it take to catch a bass on topwater? How about to catch 10 bass? Even more? Come along with Tim to do some pond fishing and see how many fish he can catch on topwater.

Tim is using a Rico popper to catch bass in a small pond. He gets bit on his first cast and the action just keeps right on going! The popper is a very versatile bait that catches fish on topwater when nothing else will. If you haven't thrown a popper lately, its time!

Frog Fishing Challenge - Cold Water!

Rain and Snow? No problem! Matt goes frog fishing in cold water to see if he can get the bass to bite. Jump on the boat with him and see how it goes!

Matt is walking a frog in open water around tullies and grass hoping to coax an early season frog fish. He gets two big blow ups but isn't able to connect on either of them. Luckily he saves the day with the underspin and swimbait combination. Obviously frog fishing is best during the warm summer months but you can't help but try it in the early Spring!

The Ultimate Pond Fishing Challenge

Matt challenged Tim to show up to a pond with nothing but his backpack and two rods. Inside the pack was a variety of baits that should work great on a small pond. The challenge? Catch a fish on every bait in the box in less than 2 hours... and be careful not to break off, there aren't many backup baits!

Tim did a great job of working through the various baits to catch bass in the pond. He proved it could be done with different techniques and fishing styles from worm fishing to reaction fishing to getting topwater blow ups.
