Micro Fishing In A Crystal Clear Stream

Micro Baits for TINY fish in some of the tiniest clear water streams you've ever seen! We hit the road last week in search of something a little different. We went back home to the streams and pools that we grew up on. Come along as we take you underwater to explore the world of Brook and Rainbow Trout while we catch these amazing little fish.

"Micro Fishing or micro baiting" is a growing trend amongst new anglers. We've seen it develop and much you like you, we did it throughout our childhoods. We knew if we were going to film some micro fishing we needed to take it back to our roots so we headed back home, deep into the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Why go micro? Its all about the challenge. Catching tiny fish in places where everyone else overlooks. Whether you live in the South and micro fish for green sunfish or you live in the West pursuing native trout, the gear and the purpose behind it is all the same.

We often spend our time driving fast boats loaded down with high-end equipment in pursuit of big bass but there is something special about breaking away, leaving that outboard motor at home and just doing a little fishing. Do yourself a favor and spool up that old trout rod from when you were a kid and hit the road. You won't regret it!

Tim's Most Painful Big Bass FAIL | Brutal Story!

Tim was set to have the best day ever! He was getting giant bites, it was his 30th birthday, and all his friends had come to weigh-in to watch him win... that's when it all started going sideways.

Only on Clearlake do you weigh in 3rd big fish of a tournament with a 7 lber and feel like a complete failure! Tim had a truly epic day but it could have been so much better!

Losing a double digit hurts, it hurts BAD. Losing a 10 lber in a tournament is so much worse! We share these stories because you guys ask for them but it wouldn't hurt our feelings if you started asking for stories about fish that went right. Ha!

Leave a comment and let us know what you want to hear about next.

100 Bass Challenge With A Lucky Subscriber!

Huge thanks to Alex Centner for coming all the way from Arizona to shoot this 100 fish challenge with us! It was a grind but we pulled it off! 100 bass plus some bonus crappie and bluegill!

How many fish have you caught in one day? Catching huge numbers of fish requires focus and commitment but if you take the time to locate actively schooling fish it can be done. By covering water quickly with fast moving baits like the spinnerbait and chatterbait we were able to identify areas that had concentrations of fish. Once the fish were located we were able to slow down with finesse presentations and catch the numbers we were looking for.

Here's what we used to catch them...

Lucky Craft Silent Squarebill Crankbait: http://bit.ly/2vmq67T
Bling Spinnerbait 3/8 oz Lemonade Twist: http://bit.ly/2diSwqq

10 Baits, 10 Bass, 20 Minute Challenge!

The Challenge: Catch 10 bass on 10 different baits in 20 minutes on a Clearlake, on the weekend, with heavy angling pressure. There are 14 rods on deck just in case something goes wrong. Here we go!

The challenge begins with Matt setting his Minn Kota Talons so that the boat doesn't move during the entire challenge. The goal is to catch all these fish without ever moving the boat!

He gets bit on the first cast, ultimately losing the fish. Several casts later the first fish is in the boat! Several minutes later he catches a Clearlake, California Smallmouth. On this lake Smallmouth are called "Unicorns" because they're so incredibly rare!

In the end Matt isn't able to complete the challenge, catching only 6 of the 10 bass he was searching for. He gives some great information along the way about retrieves, lure speed, and how to catch bass in Fall and Summer.
