Soft swimbaits are a great way to catch fish, but they have one major drawback… their durability. They frequently rip and tear around their harness. With the price of these lures often being $20 or more, it’s only reasonable to want to get the most out if them. Matt shows an easy way to extend the life of soft swimbaits in the video below!
There’s a myriad of knots out there to choose from, but for straight shank hooks the snell knot is tough to beat. Snell knots can be tied in everything from braid to fluorocarbon and and can be used in a wide variety of applications. One big benefit to using a snell knot with straight shank hooks is that when you set the hook, the hook point is driven upwards into the fish’s mouth. Though snell knots are very strong, people often don’t tie them because of a common misconception that they are difficult to tie. Learn to tie two varieties of snell knots in the video below!
Here is another video from a recent moonlit bankfishing expedition. While Matt was busy losing every other fish that bit Kirk was busy landing fish on the Rago Rat. Again, no giant bass this night but still some nice video of a fish being landed in the dark.
