Which Spots Hold The Most Fish?

We've taught you ALMOST everything you need to know for Winter bass fishing. We covered depths, patterns, baits, retrieves, and conditions but there is one more piece to the puzzle. Here is the final tip for consistently catching Winter Bass!

Which spots should you fish? Its a simple question with an equally simple answer. Here are some KEY locations on any lake that will hold bass in Winter.

1) Transitions: Anywhere there is a change between two different kinds of material. (Rock to mud, mud to grass, gravel to boulders, etc.)

2) Points: Any point that breaks to deep water is a key Winter location. If you have multiple points, the point that reaches out into the DEEPEST water is the best point.

3) Visible Cover: This could be anything from standing timber to brush, rocks, grass, garbage, virtually anything in the water that is "different" from the rest. On a sunny day any piece of visible cover that breaks the water's surface will be slightly warmer than the surrounding water and will attract bass that are trying to warm themselves.

The baits we're throwing this time of year have not changed... here are some of our favorites.

10 Bass Weighed 81 lbs?!?! The REAL Story Behind This EPIC Photo!

You've seen this photo but you've never heard the story! Heart wrenching, painful, and epic, all at the same time! If you want to hear the heart and soul behind TacticalBassin, you've got to check this out!

Tim was as low as you could be. After more than a week in NICU with his youngest son struggling for life, Tim hit rock bottom. There was no where left to go but to the lake. He just wanted to clear his head... he had no idea he was about to begin the most epic week of fishing he'd ever experienced! When have you ever heard someone say they were hooking 6-10 lbers on every cast? Its almost unimaginable but that is exactly how it happened!

Here are all of the baits the fish were eating that week...

How To Quickly Catch Bass On Any Lake!

Ever wondered how the pros show up on a new lake and immediately start catching fish? Developing patterns quickly is an art, but its not a secret. Once you learn the method, you can do it too! Matt explains his mindset as he develops a pattern on a cold winter day.

Matt explains how changing conditions have repositioned the fish in the lake but by applying a few keys baits a depth and location is quickly established. Your lake may look completely different but the information will apply whether you fish a river system, a tiny pond, or a giant reservoir in the South.

Blade Bait Basics: Winter Fishing Made Easy

The blade bait has been around since the early 80's but recent innovations have taken the technique to the next level. This technique could not only save your Winter, it could make it a lot more fun!

If your lakes aren't iced over, there is still time to throw these lures. Blades come in a variety of shapes and sizes but below you'll find a list of some of our favorites.

Silver Buddy: http://bit.ly/2AcTelj
Damiki Vault: http://bit.ly/2rnO7e2
Binsky Blade: http://bit.ly/2mR2Vwe
Sebile Vibrato: http://bit.ly/2rlZmDW

If you enjoy throwing blade baits you'll probably also enjoy ice jigs and jigging spoons. Here are our favorite of each.

Most blade baits come with hardware that leaves something to be desired. We recommend cutting the hardware off and starting fresh.  We will replace the snap and hook hangers with Owner Hyperwire Split Rings to eliminate potential failures, then upgrade the hooks to maximize our effectiveness. Sizes vary based on the weight of the blade but most blades will have size 6 and 8 hooks, we recommend replacing them with size 4 and 6. For split rings we recommend either size 2 or 3. This is not an aggressive technique, you can slow play the fish so bend outs shouldn't be an issue once the gear is upgraded.
