How To Interpret Side Imaging Sonar

Do you know how to read side imaging? Do you know what its for or how to use it to catch more fish? Understanding side imaging takes some getting used to so today Tim is going to explain the basic functions, show examples of fish, and even talking about how to tune it for your situation.

Most moderately priced units today include side imaging as an option. Its a great tool, saving you valuable time on the water if you know how to use it to your advantage. Its great for locating structure, hazards, schools of fish, and more.

The unit we use is the Humminbird Solix 15. We chose this unit because of its unbelievably clear picture and incredible detail. The first day we used it we were locating sunken boats, rock piles, and other structure in places we fish every day but had never been able to see those objects before.

The Solix is the best of the best for side imaging but there are some other great units on the market as well. Below we will link the unit we're using along with the items needed to link the front and back unit together for waypoint sharing, as well as several other great imaging units at different prices.

Worm Fishing Tips for Fall and Winter

Forget finesse, this video is about big worms and shaky heads to power through the cooler months. If you aren't ready to dropshot, this video is for you! Finesse is great but if your fish are willing to feed, feeding them, a bigger meal can upsize your catch. Turn to the shaky head this Winter when everyone else has given up and you might be surprised by what happens next.

Everyone knows the power of the shaky head for Summer bass. Somehow anglers overlook the effectiveness the rest of the year. As the water cools consider picking up a shaky head with a lighter wire hook, tying it on a lighter rod, and trying to catch a big bass when nothing else will bite.

Below is a breakdown of the worms, hooks, and tackle we have the most confidence in with this technique. Remember, keep it simple. You're not looking for a ton of bites as the water cools, you're looking for the right bites. Stick to confidence colors for the best results.

Cold Water Jerkbait Fishing: Everything You Need To Know

If you're ready to catch more jerkbait fish, this is your video! Matt breaks down Which Baits, How To Work Them, and a whole lot more in this in-depth look at jerkbaits. He keeps his bait selection simple, makes his gear choices easy, and focuses on triggering the bass into biting.

If you've ever wanted to catch a jerkbait fish, now is the time to get out there and make it happen. The sharp cooling trend at the end of Fall triggers an aggressive feeding desire in bass. Couple that response with a desire to conserve energy in the cold and the jerkbait doubles up on effectiveness.

The handful of baits Matt describes in this video are deadly! Used independently they're great but when combined together you have a simple system that can be adapted to changing temperatures, depths, and cover.

Below you'll find a breakdown of Matt's favorite baits, equipment, hook upgrades, and even a color list of some of the colors that he has seen the most success with.

3 Tricks To Get Wayyy More bites with a HydroWave

Does the HydroWave really work? Is it easy to use? Savvy anglers have been using the Hydrowave to catch more bass for years! There are a few tricks that make it even more effective and today we're finally letting those secrets out.

Tim just picked up the HydroWave H2. This unit has more sound options than previous models and is very user friendly. In a matter of minutes we'd found the best sounds for the school of bass we were sitting on and were immediately catching fish.

The best time to use a sound stimulator like the hydro wave is when bass are schooling together. It will work on individual fish as well but you lose the multiplying effect of the bass triggering each other to feed. We've also noticed that "less is more" when adding sound to the water. Start off with lower volumes and levels of aggression and work up until the fish react.

Below is a breakdown of the units, sound modules, and gear we were using during this video.
