NEW PB!! Trophy Smallmouth - Sturgeon Bay, WI

3 new PERSONAL BEST smallmouth bass on one lake!! CC and Tonya both got to catch monster Smallmouth on finesse tackle and Tim's son JD (6 years old) got in on the action with a 5.26 lber of his own!! What an amazing trip! Come along with us for some amazing fishing on world famous Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

We planned this trip over a year ago and were actually en route when Matt got into his terrible car crash. Fast forward a year and we all regrouped and came together for Sturgeon Bay round 2! The weather didn't play nice but we would not be stopped... we pushed through the wind and rain and found exactly what we came there for.

Despite the tough fishing reports leading up to our arrival, we had an amazing time on Lake Michigan. Our group caught several smallmouth over 6 lbs, more than a dozen 5 lbers, and countless 3's and 4's. Wisconsin did not disappoint! If you ever get the chance to fish Sturgeon Bay be sure and make it happen. Thanks for coming along with us on our vacation!

Below is a breakdown of our favorite baits from the trip as well as a couple of the combos that really performed while fighting these monster fish.

Summer Worm Fishing - Tricks To Catch Bigger Bass

Summer has arrived and its time to throw the plastic worm! So many anglers overlook the dog days of Summer but you can catch more bass in one day in the heat than you can any other day of the year! By understanding how, where, and when to switch to a worm, you'll be setting yourself up for success all Summer long.

When Tim picks up the worm he targets deeper rock. There are plenty of bass to be found in the grass but those fish are often catchable on reaction baits. When you focus on rock, you'll discover a whole new class of fish that often won't eat anything else.

In this video Tim gives some great tips for budget anglers and seasoned pros, alike. Regarding sensitivity - Purchase the most sensitive rod that your budget will allow! Sensitivity is EVERYTHING when fishing a worm. If budget is a concern, two additional tips are to purchase a longer rod so you can visibly see deflection instead of relying solely on sensitivity to detect a bite. Also, spooling up with braided line (and leader) will increase your sensitivity drastically compared to fishing with fluorocarbon.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and gear Tim discussed in the video. We've separated out his favorite worms by style, given color recommendations, and included the rods he recommends from ultra-sensitive to budget-friendly.

Swim Jigs and Senkos - Summer Fishing The MidWest

We're fishing in a new state! Today we're breaking down Patoka Lake in Indiana. The lake is flooded with high water deep in the trees, the bass could be anywhere! With only a few hours to fish, we have to move quickly to locate the bass and develop a productive pattern to catch them. We begin by fishing offshore but quickly realize that's a big mistake.

Upon realizing the offshore bite was non-existent Matt headed shallow. He picked up a swim jig and began searching the backs of creeks. After getting his first bite and several additional followers he turned to the senko to complete his pattern. While Patoka Lake may not have an abundance of fish, the quality is excellent. Matt was able to catch a handful of really nice bass and is confident he could have caught quite a few more given another day or two on the lake.

Next Stop: Wisconsin! Matt, CC and Sierra are headed North to meet up with Tim's family as well as a few friends in search of giant smallmouth. Keep your eye out for our next video, its going to be fun! Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment Matt used on Patoka Lake.

3 Fishing Knots Everyone Should Know

Today we're tying 3 knots every fisherman needs to know. The Palomar and San Diego Jam are both great knots for attaching hooks and lures to your line. The Blood Knot is an excellent knot for attaching your main line to your leader material. We have a few tricks we do to adapt each knot to our fishing style and we're sharing those with you too!

No matter what species of fish you pursue, these are extremely helpful knots. If you're a bass fisherman, they're the only knots you'll ever need to know! Are there other knots that work well? Of course! The downside of many other knots is they're either too difficult to tie for the average angler and/or you can't tell when they're tied incorrectly.

Below is a breakdown of the different lines that we use for all of our fishing needs, as well as a link to the video explaining what each line is for.
