How To Find BIG Bass In A New Lake! ( Summer Edition )

We're exploring a new lake during the hottest part of the year, jump in the boat as we figure it out! Matt uses a combination of new fishing (Urchins and Minnows), traditional fishing (Jigs And Worms), and BFS Fishing (Karashi, and Micro Glide Baits) to dial in a new lake. Let's go fishing!

Going in to the day Matt's plan was to split his time between shallow and deep. As it turns out, that plan was spot on. He caught fish from the surface out to 40+ feet of water. While the largest bass of the day came from 25' of water on the edge of a grass line, the majority of his bites were in less than 10' of water around cover, including a bunch of topwater bites.

Tricks To Catch Bass In Hot August Heat! ( Reservoir Bass Fishing )

It's the HOTTEST day of the year and we're going fishing! Jump in the boat with Tim as he launches before daylight and dials in a fun day of bass fishing, despite the heat! Summer bass fishing can be really fun if you understand fish movements and how they position throughout the day. What works in the morning probably won't work midday, but that's half of the fun!

Tim starts the day fishing shallow points. He employs a combination of topwater and a finesse jig to catch fish in low light. As the sun gets higher the fish start moving offshore and suspending in open water. Tim uses an Urchin, a dropshot, and a spoon to coax the stubborn midday fish into biting as well. Ultimately, the weather chases Tim off the water, but not before he's caught Smallmouth, Largemouth, AND Spotted bass!

3 Tricks To Catch Bass In Late Summer!

Late Summer is a challenging time for most bass fisherman, but not anymore! Today we have 3 tricks that are going to help you catch more fish. We travel the country year round  and have stumbled on a few patterns along the way that help us get bit when nothing else is working. If you're ready to catch more bass, this is for you!

If you want to catch more fish right now, try these 3 tricks...

1) Begin focusing your attention on bass that are targeting smaller baitfish. You can do this by changing the size of your baits, as well as the locations you're fishing.

2) Focus on lively grass. As grass begins to die back, bass will abandon dying grass, but will stay in the lively sections. You can visually see this grass, but you can also listen for activity in grass that is topped out.

3) Go night fishing. This simple concept allows you to avoid the heat and target active fish, but it has its own list of subtle tricks. Don't miss Matt's recommendations about moon phase to increase your success rate.
