Fall Bass Fishing: How To Find Fish In A New Lake (3 Baits To Catch Them)

The day begins with a Chatterbait. This gives Matt the option to cover water quickly around grass, wood, and other debris. Once he has a sense that most of the fish are smaller, he switches to a swimbait. Off camera, Matt spent 45 minutes with the swimbait, had 2 bites, then caught the fish you see. Next he switched to the jig and slowed down. If bigger fish were present, this bait is likely to find them. Exploring water is all about efficiency, and staying on task. Find the fish, cover water, find bigger fish, make an assessment of the lake.
