Top Baits For Post Spawn Bass Fishing (May and June)

What lures should you fish with right now? How do you catch bass after they spawn? We've got you covered! Last week we taught you how bass transition after the spawn as they shift toward their Summer haunts. Today we're taking an in–depth look out our confidence baits for this same time period. Whether you fish shallow or deep, these are the baits we trust. 

This time of year can be amazing because bass tend to congregate. When you locate them it can be fish after fish for hours! Understanding where the fish position is one piece of the puzzle, knowing which baits to fish confidently is the remaining piece. Today Tim is covering his favorite baits for post spawn bass fishing in a variety of different situations. Top 5 Baits For June Bass Fishing!

June is amazing! There are TWO groups of bass now and you need to approach them differently! June brings a huge shift in bass behavior as some fish turn back toward the shallows and others go out to deep water.  If you want to catch fish in June you need to understand the differences between the groups and which baits to target them with.

We dug through our tackle and came up with the top 5 (okay, maybe its more like 10) baits that really shine this time of year. When fishing shallow we focus on topwater and Texas rigs but when we go deep its a completely different list. Pay close attention to when Tim relies on each style of lure so you're not throwing them at the wrong group of fish. June is amazing as fish group back up, much like the prespawn, and you can catch a lot of them in a short amount of time if you know what to use.

Top 5 Baits for May Bass Fishing!

The bass are in transition and we're showing you how to catch them! May brings a lot of change in bass fishing. There are still lingering spawners but there are also a lot of post spawn fish. Some go deep right away while others stay shallow around cover. If you love fishing aggressively, you can power fish for post spawners and if you prefer to slow fish you can pick apart shallow cover. 

While we strive to stick with 5 baits, there is so much going on in May we couldn't quite narrow it down that far. In actuality Tim breaks down 9 key baits and what each one is for. You may be able to combine one or two of these on your lake to really narrow it down but all of them will catch fish this month.

Top 5 Baits For April Bass Fishing!

Bass fishing is at its peak in April! There is no better time to get on the water and catch a bunch of fish. You can typically find fish in all 3 stages of the spawn and it doesn't take a keen understanding of fish movement to predict where they'll be. Head for the shallows with this short list of baits and you're bound to catch a few fish!

Bass can still be caught on reaction baits, but you can also slow down and catch them on soft plastics. Whatever style you prefer, there will be bass to catch. When it comes to reaction baits, we put a lot of emphasis on standing out from the crowd. We're using baits with flash, vibration, and sound to get the bass' attention. When it comes to soft baits, its all about a natural presentation. We find that baits with a touch of blue in them will often out-produce the others.
