BUYER'S GUIDE: BFS (BAIT FINESSE SYSTEM) RODS, REELS, AND TACKLE

Bait Finesse is here to stay! Many anglers are wondering what BFS is for, and how to apply it to their fishing. In today's Buyer's Guide we're covering our favorite BFS rods and the reels for casting ultralight presentations. Then we're looking at some of our favorite baits for this method. If you've not experienced the bait finesse system for ultralight fishing, you're missing out on a lot of fun!

BFS has been around for many years but it took a huge leap into the limelight when Shimano launched their Curado BFS earlier this year. Suddenly, BFS became available to the masses at an affordable price. If you're not familiar with BFS the concept is very simple. Essentially, anything you've ever done with a spinning rod, can now be done with a bait caster, and with even more precision.

Matt's NEW PB! Didn't Expect This Fish To Bite!

Matt has no idea he's about to catch his PB! You just never know what's going to bite when you're out on the lake! Come along for a fun day of bass fishing full of all sorts of other random species catches as well! The transition from Fall to Winter is a great time to be on the water!

This would have been a really fun day of bass fishing but it got even better when a giant Walleye decided to make an appearance on the first stop of the morning! Too much fun! Today was unseasonably warm so Matt was able to power fish all day long. He caught fish on the Alabama Rig and several different underspins. The key to his success today was retrieve speed. As the temperatures rose, so did the fish's desire to chase the baits.

How To Catch Bass In Winter! (Beginner To Advanced)

Do you want to catch bass this Winter? Whether you're trying it for the first time or you fish all Winter long, these tips will help you be more successful on the water. Come along for a day on the water and watch as Tim explores likely Winter areas, then sits down and gives an in-depth description of fish movements throughout the Winter months. 

Catching bass is all about understanding their movements. Tim starts out by catching a nearly 5 lb Smallmouth with no background information on this fishery. He doesn't have "secret spots" or friends telling him what do to, he's simply running the areas that bass congregate on as water temperatures drop, and it works. You can do this too! Pay close attention as he details how fish leave shallows and position on outside structures.

Top 5 Baits For December Bass Fishing!

December brings new challenges and bigger bass! These baits will help you catch them! As water temperatures drop the way to consistently catch bass changes. There are a few power fishing techniques that remain but finesse will start taking a lead roll as well. Here's what you need to know... 

If you're going to power fish you want to focus on lures that draw a feed response in the bass. Speed cranking and A-rig fishing are the two main power techniques that consistently work in cold water. Another great option is hopping a blade bait. All 3 of these methods will catch Winter time giants. Aside from these techniques you should focus your attention on slower bottom contact baits like the football jig and ned rig to get consistent bites.
